Description
Spectacular Vintage Silk DYNASTY Robe from Peninsula Hotel Hong Kong 1966This robe or dressing gown was purchased on March 23, 1966, at the Dynasty shop at the Peninsula Hotel by an enthusiastic world traveler. According to her notes, she paid for it, the equivalent of 7 today’s dollars.
The Dynasty brand was founded in 1953 by Dora Sanders to market stylish clothing for Americans traveling in Asia.
The hotel,
opened in 1928, and was the first under The Peninsula brand.
Founded by members of the Kadoorie family,
The Peninsula was built with the idea that it would be "the finest hotel east of
Suez
”.
This is a
stunning piece of vintage clothing. It is very well made and elegant. The colors are strong and vibrant.
The label states “Made in the British Crown Colony of Hong Kong.
”
The robe is marked S for “small.”
It is fully lined. It has side slits that measure 14 inches from the bottom, There are two pockets at the sides and a sash for tying the robe. Shoulder to shoulder width is 24 inches; shoulder to hem is 57 inches;
waist to hem is 40½ inches.
It is in very good condition
but has minor wear consistant with age.
