    Up for consideration, I have a lower unit taken from a 1990s 225 HP Mercury 2 stroke. Its an XL shaft. The Case has some pitting near the bottom (see pictures). When checking the oil there was a considerable amount of water. It did shift and turn smoothly by hand. It will definitely need new seals. This was used in salt water.
