    Description

    This is a reproduction huge Spanish mastiff dog skull cast in durable urethane plastic. Length is 10 9/16", width is 6 1/8 ". The Spanish mastiff is the largest of all the livestock guardian breeds, and can weigh up to 265 pounds. While no where near as well known as the English mastiff (which usually takes the record for heaviest dog breed), the Spanish mastiff rivals it in size. The last two pictures show this cast next to the skull of a large grey wolf (not for sale) that scores 17 11/16" (total length + widest width). Domestic dog skulls don't get much bigger than this, though few would match (or exceed) the size of the skull of a large wolf. The Spanish mastiff probably outweighed the wolf by more than 100 pounds, though wolves' heads are larger in proportion to the body than those of most dogs (and wolves also have larger and more robust teeth).
