Description

Vel d?Hiv Scrapbook
Up for sale is a very rare piece of track cycling history from France. A circa 1930 handmade scrapbook mainly focused on the "
course à l?américaine? or The American Races (aka Six Day or Madison races)
at the Vélodrome d?Hiver in Paris, France. Additionally there are some clippings of other competitions featuring French athletes (New York, Berlin, etc). Clearly this is a one of a kind collection.
There are approximately 160 pages of clippings (and a couple publicity photos)  ? articles, results, announcements, obits and profiles of athletes, with one odd page of hockey between Canada and France. Lots of great period photos and race results you would be hard pressed to find online. Additionally  there are a few loose articles in an envelope that never made it to the book, as well as a couple pages with loose articles that were never pasted in (I left them in place).
Some of the cyclists included are Hournon, Percqueux, Di Paco, Louet, Linnari, Raynaud, Wambst, Moeller, Ch. Pélissier,
Joey, Bidot, Maréchal, Falck Hansen, Choury, Fabre, Paillard, Michard, Leducq, Binda, Honeman, Grassin, Raynaud, Erich Moeller, Guerra, Young Perez, Oscar Egg, Gerardin, Linari, Drogo, Willie Spencer, Letourneur, and quite a few more.
The book itself is a hardcover ?composition style? graph paper notebook measuring roughly 14? x 8? and over an inch thick.
Please note, this is entirely in French, except for the phrase ?dead heat? that I found on a page!
Condition:
Good condition overall. It?s a scrapbook so it?s not perfect. Some yellowing to page edges. Wear along edges of cover, yellowing to newsprint. Having said that, there is no major damage and for its age, it?s in great shape.

This item will be shipped via USPS Priority Mail in a large flat rate box. I?ve added an insurance fee for up to 0 in damage. I?m open to using other services at buyer?s expense. However, service must be trackable and insurable. Global shipping through eBay?s Global Shipping Program only. I do not ship to PO boxes. Sorry.
