1969 American Motors AMX It is no secret that AMC always marched to a different drummer when it came to styling and innovation. Unfortunately, that drummer's tune wasn't what the majority of the buying public wanted to dance to. So, a lot of unique and ingenious ideas and engineering didn't make it into enough garages to keep the company afloat, too bad. One of those ideas was the AMX of the late 60's and 70. As performance oriented two seater there really wasn't the historical provenance to compete with the Corvette and the styling was just a bit too radical for mainstream America. With that here is an outstanding example of AMC performance and style with some great options, colors, and detail. This one is a two owner car that restored about 10 years ago and still looks very good today. The engine is a 390 V8 that is channeled through a smooth shifting automatic tranny and a Posi rear end. There is power steering and power disc brakes that make it fun and easy to drive. If you're looking for something different to use on cruise night or still remember Mark Donohue and the Red, White, and Blue jackets of AMC Racing you gotta' own this car. Features 390 V8 that is strong and smooth Steering Wheel automatic Transmission with factory floor Shifter Performance Tuned Dual Exhaust with correct manifolds Pedal Ease Power Front Disc Brakes with Rear Drums in great shape Finished in Freshly Buffed and Waxed Frost White code 72A with correct Red Dual Center Stipes Clean and solid undercarriage Factory In-Dash 8000 RPM Tach with 5000 RPM redline. Inside you will find correct Red Bucket Seat Interior with new covers and padding and new carpet code 935F, a factory AMFM radio in the dash, outside driver's side rear view mirror, factory flush mount door handles, full factory Instrumentation. There are 14 inch correct Magnum 500 Wheels with redline bias ply tires, excellent chrome, glass, and stainless trim throughout the car There were only 8293 AMXs built of which only 2183 were automatics, you just don't see them often. This one is an excellent example of the daring of AMC during the Muscle Car Era and is much rarer than most Camaros or Mustangs. Dare to be different.
